how do i reset my ecu on my 95 2.2 vtec
when i first got my prelude the vtec kicked in and then the check light came on i took the battery off and left it and now the vtec kicks in sometimes normaly for the first couple of minutes when warm sometimes at 5000 rpm or 6000 whats the best way to reset the ecu

I know that a low level would, but not sure about if a high level would.... make sure you get it to the right level, when you say its high, how high are we talking, and when are you checking it? Check it when its cold in the morning before you start the car, and if it is high then, you know its too high because it will be at a higher level when the oil warms up and expands. Did you pull the check engine light to see what it was saying? Of course it will probably say vtec malfunction which is hazy....which could mean a number of things, bad solenoid seal, or filter etc etc.....

also, what exactly is happening, it isnt kicking in when the car is fully warm or is? Make sure you get the car to full operating temp otherwise that could be your problem right there....

just been out again the engine to full operating temp after reset started off with a little bit at 5000 but then it went to 6000 and now nothing again to start with the cruise didnt work but that was sorted when i first reset the ecu

did the check engine light come on again? Start out with getting the oil to a normal level, and then if that doesnt work you can start with replacing some of the things along the vtec solenoid such as the seal and filter, because it is kicking on to begin with and then not continuing right?

why are you guys talking about replaceing parts when all he should do it drain a little bit of oil and then refill to the correct ammount.....
i dont think you need to reset your ECU your car is a 95 so the ECU is OBD-1 and soft resets each time you turn off the car while retaineding fuel curve settings.....for a complete reset just take the negative batery terminal off for a bit....you will probably have to reset your clock and stereo settings and such after.
