I'd find a Dodge Colt GT hatchback for $500 somewhere, swap a stock $600 6-bolt 4g63 in it with a $350 ACT clutch, a used 16g turbo and 2g SMIC for $350, and go run high 11's at 20 PSI. That way you have like $5500 or so left over. You'd have something else to drive when a car breaks, and a $7000 Honda upgrade would look silly compared to what that Colt would do at the track for only $1800.

I would add it to the money I have already and either buy a Lotus Elise or

buy a 00-01 PY ITR and spend about 5K or so on upgrades. suspension, exhaust, ecu to hondata + tune, tires/light weight wheels, new seat with 5 point harness and SCCA approved rollcage and gut the interior (ummm gut it some more ) then go autox the crap out of it

A shop here called ET Motorsports has a turbo mirage that runs high 11's. It may not look like much but I have never seen it out run on the street.

You met Bill Testerman. I wanted to buy one of his hatches that he had up for sale, but it's gone already. Bill's cool as shit. He's a die-hard Mirage/Colt fanatic. He's got several cars, but he'll tell you he doesn't want to drive anything else. That has to be the ultimate sleeper car.

I wish those things weren't so rare. Every time I find a good deal on one, or one that's been built right, someone buys it out from under me. Once it was while I went a mile up the road to get money from an ATM... Gone by the time I got back.

I guess the word is out on those things now. Thanks Bill. :chuckles:
