Lately my car has been idling very low below 500rpms even, kinda scared me like it felt like it had shut off....Is there anyway I can adjust the idle?

There is a slotted screw on top of the throttle body that you can turn in and out to adjust your idle.

if it's a surging idle, it might be the fast idle valve.

during cold weather, the idle rpms will start around 1500K and jump up to 2000K.

during warm weather, or when the car is warm, the idle rpms will start around 800 and dip as low as 300.

another thing to check before messing with the idle control is your PCV valve.

did this problem happen all of a sudden? idles don't drop off for no reason.

mine also idles really low.........like 300-500. It also surges now that it is cold, until the car warms up to temp. What should I check here? I do not have the PCV valve on my valve cover anymore. Just a breather/filter. But it has been on there for 3 years......not the same one but you get what I mean.

Not to jack a thread, but mine starts around 1,500 even when it's warm...after I drive it a while it goes back down. Know why? I'm clueless!

well, during cold starts, it should top off around 1500K and then settle down.

it is NOT normal for the needle to dance between rpms. a sign of a blown fast idle valve is that it'll feel like someone is rev'ing the engine, but your foot isn't on the pedal.

a cracked PCV valve will give the same symptoms and it's worth it to look into it. the part can be purchased at autozone for $3.

my fast idle valve went out last month and it sucked.
