For just the alarm system and not installation, you can get a decent Avital alarm for $200-210. You can get one at best buy. You might want to look into installing it yourself, I don't think its as bad as it sounds.

Get it installed at a reputable, good audio/alarm specific shop. A good alarm install will make all the difference, and is as important as the alarm itself.

yep, the main cost usually of an alarm is the installation. Most places include basic install when you buy them.

what about audio express? They charge more charge their price for the alarm if you want them to install it, but if you install it yourself, the'll give you a discount on the alarm?

Actually, I want them to install it, so if something goes wrong, I can come back to them. What you guys think of the Crime Gaurd System from Crutchfield? THey give you $2500/$1000 for your insurance for your Car/Stuff Inside, and it seems to come with everything, motion detectors, pagers, but it kept talkin about some relays shit, do I need to purchase additional relays?

i think what you need depends on where you bring your car... safe neighborhood, secure parking lot a work/school.... it all depends on your needs.... where im from a basic viper system is like 150 installed or less and that is plenty... in fact i dont get nervous about not having one on my car so any alarm here is good enough

The key thing I will look for in my next alarm: Tilt sensor and wireless fuel cutoff.
