Default Attn:May sell the Rex for a Teg?

Ok here is the deal. I have a '89 Crx Si great condition. And there is this Teg for sale less than $2500.
Specs: 94 Ls cpe w/164k
Needs cosmetic work...guessin $250worth.
And for that many miles, I was thinkin of doing a rebuild.
Question? If the Ls is non-vtec...is there any way I could make it a vtec w/out swappin the whole motor? Can I just switch heads?
Need any opinions or comments. Not familiar w/Integras. Thanks.

switching heads is a procedure known as the LSVTEC. i say scrap that motor and get a B20...then when u decide u want more power, swap a VTEC head. be ready to lay down some money to build up the block when u get addicted to the new power.

So, you are saying I could get a D16 Vtec head for the motor? My friend is a mechanic and charges me dirtcheap. I just wanted to clean out the block and buy a vtec head. Don't care much for ALOT of power..just some peppy get go. If this is possible, what other parts do I need to get to make all this work? I need to know asap before I make a deal. Thanks for all the info. Peace.

Yeah, I was thinkin of doing that. BUT, just looking at options here. I could get that Teg for about $2300 while my CRX is being bought for $3300. That leaves me w/1g to rebuild the Teg with that LSVtec and maybe fix the cosmetics. Just need comments and opinions. I love the Rex and I always wanted a Teg. So I could go either way.

If the teg is in good condition except for the $250 worth of cosmetic damage I say go for it. Do a swap instead of doing LSVetch on it. No sense doing all that on an engine that already has 164,000 miles on it.

I was thinkin of doing a rebuild on the block and maybe buying a vtec head as well as rebuilding that also. If I go swap, how do I know if the whole swap is in good condition? I've heard the LSVtec is alright, not a shinning star but sufficient. Thanks for all the help people. Question? how is the reliability on Tegs? THanks?
