Default possible accidental over-rev past redline

hey today i was driving my 98 integra ls and i was trying to pass some1 on the left n then the small truck went to the left lane so i had to brake and somehow the clutch popped out i think cuz i heard a grinding noise and i think i either put it in first or neutral , but then i was already clear to go on the right and i pressed the gas and i mustve not heard the engine cuz of loud music but i revved it pretty far and when i realized that i immediately let go of the gas but im not sure if i went past the redline, but its possible it did. I dont think the engine cut out but im not sure and im just paranoid - wondering if this couldve caused any damage to nething?

the fuel cut would have stopped you revving much past redline and you would have felt that like a pretty big jolt. the only way to really go past redline is to downshift while going too fast and the gearbox is not gonna want to let you do that without a fight.

If you don't do it often you should be fine. If anything your rev-limiter would have kicked in before anything got damaged. I've done it plenty more times than I should have on my stock motor and she had no problems.

in crazy downshift cases, the rev limiter cannot fight the mechanical stress of the whole drivetrain spinning physically too high.

if u let off right away and didnt notice anything after, you should be fine...
