Default why did some EXs come with FRONT sway bars?

I read that some EXs (which ones?) came with front sway bars. I thought front sway bars INCREASED understeer... exactly what you don't want more of on a FWD car. Can someone explain? Sorry if I'm too stoopid.

on some cars a front sway is needed if there is too much oversteer the sway would help balance it out.

I think the point of the front anti-roll bar is to guarantee that the car will understeer. The EX wasn't designed as a sports car, it's an everday family car. Understeer is safer than oversteer, so it makes sense to try to ensure that the EX understeers.

Sway bars reduce body roll. Sway bar size choice is a compromise between raw traction and reducing weight transfer.

all civics (as well as most vehicles) come with antisway bars, most civics do not have strut-tower(anti-roll) bars (is that what you're thinking of?)

Ok... well my car is a sedan EX 6th gen and it has a front sway bar but no rear sway bar. I assume that Kestrel is correct that the front sway was put their by design to guarantee understeer... for safety. So my question:

Should I remove my front sway bar to increase my handling? (I'm going to be installing a rear sway bar...)

Sway bars are called anti roll bars too. I think strut tower bars are just called strut tower bars or braces....
