Default anti theft idea.

A switch in the + line somewhere to shut off the battery(in the ignition line so it doesnt kill the stereo) and hide the switch somewhere convenient yet secret... until the alarm goes in.

what you all think?

also, making the short throw detatchable so that it cant be put in gear.

how is it the wrong forum? its pertaining to a 6th gen civic and ideas that can help it from being stolen again. possibly people have tried this on one. I dont need to know if this is a decent idea on a 92 accord, so i asked here. People in this forum know me b/c i've been posting here since mid 2001, before the big crash etc. Last time i checked, your reply isnt useful info.

Ignition cutoffs can be bypassed (ever push start a car?). If you want a kill swtich so your car doesn't get driven away, considering using a relay to disconnect the fuel pump from the ECU. I was going to install one and do a writeup about it on my hybrid by I never did. I wouldn't recommend just using a cheap switch as it might not be able to hand the voltage constantly going through it, a relay is better.

good point.....i never thought of the push start thing.....

so a relay cutoff to the fuel pump sounds best. is this something to do manually, or is it part of better alarms? dont want to double my work.

im gonna do an alarm soon also, but im just getting my car back to normal before anything else

Talk to WideBodyEK also. I remember reading that he has done the same thing to his cars as well. A kill switch is a great idea, IMO.

you can't push start the car if no power is going to the ecu, fuel pump, etc. which are ran on the ignition wire. if you decide on using the ignition wire, make sure you tag it behind the fuse box so the punk can't hot wire it on the other side of your ignition cylinder.

another quick deterrant is to take out your ecu fuse and insert a dummy one, but you'll reset it each time you do it.

I had a buddy with an older CJ-7 Jeep used to pull his coil wire going to the distributor whenever he parked it. He just carreid it around with him.

I though he meant starter, not ignition wire. Most alarms only have a starter interupt so the car won't turn over with the key if the alarm is armed or accivated. The rest of the electrical system still works.
