Disc Read Error

the PS2 guys know what the fawk im talking about,..got i hate that message,...so today im on my way to the mall to get a copy of Toky0 Extreme Racer 3 ,...im on my way and my girl calls me and tells me to come pick her up,..so i detoured and i went and got her,..when she got in the car,..she handed me a new copy of TXR3,..i was like ,...so we go out for a little bit and then we go back ot my house so i can play the game,...i put it in and i get DISC READ ERROR god i sat there for like an hour just hitting the reset button before i finally gave up ,...the sad thing is my TXRZero works just fine,...so now im playing that game and trying to beat it AGAIN for the 5th time,...anyways is there a DIY on how to fix the Disc read error message,...i need to play this damn game,..help meeeeeee

try one of them laser cleaner discs thingys and try blowing some air-in-the-can to see if you can unsettle some dust in there

Call Playstation and tell them you get Disc Read Error and they will waive the repair fee

There's a fix I saw on TechTV a while back. it involves opening it up and adjusting the laser.

I had the same problem when I got Vice City when it first came out.

It's a tad time consuming turning the screw 1/8th of a turn, putting it all back together, and doing it all over again with another 1/8th of a turn until everything works. Mine has been fine for over a year now. Not one DRE. Lucky me having the version 4 PS2, it's the hardest to chip and also the hardest to take apart to get to the screw to boost the voltage to the laser.

ahhh yes,..just what i was looking for,..im gonna call up sony tomorrow,..my boy let me borrow his PS2 since he rarely plays it so i can play TXR3 and send out my PS2 at the same time

I get customers complaining about DRE's all the time. Try getting a compressed air duster and just blowing on the inside from a little distance. Doesnt hurt to blow the front vents and the rear fan as well.

Do you have your ps2 sideways or upward? Try fiddling with it before opening it up.

i called up sony today and they are gonna fix my playstation no charge,..i just have to pay to have the console shipped to them ,...i borrowed a friend's PS2 to play TXR3,...game is badass,..might be boring to some because you pretty much do the same shit over and over again but i really like the game,..im a big fan of the TXR series,..there is alot of shit that they improved on since TXRZero,..like graphics and handling of the car and what not,..the sounds are better also,..like you can actually hear the different exhaust notes from the different exhaust systems you purchase,...overall i give the game a 9/10

i just took mine apart, cleaned the lens and moved the little white gear a notch or two, fixed it, back to normal... really easy to do too

I got that playing GTA3 and GTA:VC...some stupid kids scratched my discs.
