remvoing radio from 87 honda accord
ok i am looking at removing the radio from my 1987 honda accord, and i have located the screws which it is mounted with
however i don't think i can get a screw driver in to remove the 3 screws, as the gap is too small to get one in.
there are a couple of panels on either side of the footwells which keep the cables in i think, however if they were removed i think that i could get a screwdriver in there to remove the screws. it seems to be stuck down or somethink and i don't want to snap it, is there anyway to remove that panel?
also do all modern cd players come with all the mountiong stuff i need to fit it in?

87 Accords do not need any special mounting hardware. The radio you are putting in (if it is a DIN size/style) will ahve a cage/basket to mount in the hole where the radio will go. The factory radio will come out with out having to remove those side panels if you have the correct tools. It is easier to do from the passengers side. Lay down so you can see up behind the radio. There should be 2 8mm/phillips screw/bolts that hold the radio in the dash. Also to make it easier you can remove that module that is in the way behind the radio. It should be held in with 2 10mm bolts, 1 on each side. Other than that it is a pretty cake job.

that module I am talking about moving is really really easy and no problem. You can use a SKEWdriver(not screw driver, it has a right angle neck for tight spaces) to get the screws out of the radio. Or you can try an 8mm socket on an extension to remove them. Trust me this way I am telling you is the easiest way to do it. I have been doing it for 13 years now and that whole job would take me about 15-20 minutes. I am not bragging or anything I am just telling you what I know from years of experience. Just trying to help you out. Good luck.

Thats cool. The piece I am talking about is not directly below the radio mounted. It is behind the console around the back of the radio, but down low right above the carpet. Its just kind of in the way trying to get to the screws back there.

it is suspended by a "u" shaped bracket, with one 10mm on each side of it. If thats the same piece you are thinking of then that is it. Sorry for the confusion, its just hard to try and explain things without being able to show them.

don't think it is to be honest, what i am talking about is right behind the engine and engine block at the centre. its mounted off the floor as well so i don't think it is that
