Default h22 type s vs h23a vs h22a vs f20b

Which of these motors would be the best swap into a 99 accord.? h22 type s has about 20 more hp but also comes at about 1900 more bucks. which of the rest of teh engines have a best overall performance for a heavy car? including tranny, gear ratio ect..?

always start with the H22, you can always pick up those extra hp numbers with other mods and such, and the type s is far from worth the extra 2 grand - for real. Especially if you plan to mod the motor anyway.

Man , Is this a message board? If you got nothing to say then just don't say anything.....I may have lower post-count, its because I don't post stuff like "use the search button"

I don't mean to cause problems, but you're not helping anyone by doing this just pissing off people.:slap:

back to the thread starter, Go with a H22 or H23, but really its all about the future of your plans. Yeah the Type-S sint really much and not worth the Extra money.

Like you can see that I have a H23, for reasons. But It's your decision.

Yeah one thing is I have been on the board for a longer time then you and I have contributed almost all my posts to serious answers but sometimes it just gets annoying to come across all these threads that are the same and I shouldent be "pissing someone off" because it saves everybody time when someone uses the search button. Im just trying to help the board. But if you want me to post on something I have responded before then I will:

99Accolude: I with most of the others agree you should start off with a normal 92-95 or 96-99 H22A motor. Swapping all of these motors are going to be pretty hard do to that your car never came with a H22 like the 5th gen accord which is pretty popular for swapping.

The F20B has 200hp but mid 140's for torque. It is basically a destroked H22 with lower torque. Its not worth the extra money to lose performance. Also there is not much aftermarket support for this motor and really is not worth it.

The H23A is better for a turbo set-up with its lower compression and have just been known for turbo set-ups. If you want to go turbo I suggest this motor and its a lot cheaper to start off with.

The H22 Type S is not worth it at all. The compression is a little higher from what I have heard but is not worth the extra money. With the extra money you should probably build the head with crower cam shaft, retainers, valve springs, P&P and cam gear. You might be a couple hundred bucks off but you could probably give another Accord H22 Type S a run for its money.

Find out what you want to do first. Wether its turbo or all-motor or basic bolt-ons. The H22 is going to be best for all-motor and bolt's on as it has been proven. Good luck.

Jon
