Default new 93 teg

So I just got a 93 Integra LS 5spd. My first manual transmission car. I'm still learning and doing alright so far. h: I like it, wish I had a manual a long time ago.

The 93's have a "cable" transmission right? 94+ have a "hydro"?

Some people have told me that the "hydro" or "hydraulic" trannies are smoother and easier? Whats the diffrences?

Can a 94+ hydro tranny be put in a 93? :dunno: Help a teggy n00b out

cable trannies use a cable to acctuate the clutch, hyrdos use a hydrolic system. its very expensive to convert hydro to cable or vise-versa and really pointless. whats wrong with your current tranny?
and any b-series gearset can be swapped into the earlier cable trannies.

check out www.g2ic.com for more info.

the pedal is much easier to press in on a hydraulic trannie, at least on my 2 cars.

It's not worth the bother or the cost, trust me. There isn't that much of a difference, the money would be better spent on a cable transaxle with better gearing.

While most of this is true the cable trannies are getting hard to find in decent condition. The part that is not true is that not all B-series trannies are the same internally and so can not use the same parts. There is some interchangeability but it is not absolute.

As for puting a hydro tranny in a G2 the main part you need is an adapter that is sold by Hasport but at this time it is only avail as part of a complete kit to swap a hydro engine/tranny combo into civics. I have also heard that the hydro tranny in a G2 does not fit the front mount but it is ok to run without it.

Congrats on the new g2. :goodjob: Like others said, I wouldn't bother changing the tranny/clutch type unless you get a new engine that needs it.

My training on the 5spd consisted of about 6hours over about 3 days. Had to learn quick cause I was driving it home on the 3rd day, 4+ hours. Of course highway is easy.

Good thing it has a newish clutch.... I'm still learning but getting the hang of it. I much prefer the manual to auto now.

Thanks for the info, I don't really plan on any major mods for it. Just curious as to what they are really. I was reading some of the info on g2ic.com and there's some good tips in there. When I washed it, I noticed that I got some water in the hatch. I'll check the things they suggested.

It's got over 155k miles on it... but it still runs nice and strong and is a nice quick, nimble, peppy car. :goodjob:

It does need a new exaust though also... maybe just axleback... but it'll probably need a whole cat back system... what are some good ones for the g2?
