Getting stomped in 3rd
#3
I thought it up last night on the freeway on the way to work. On my way back I tried it once or twice. Bright side is it drops you into the power band. A bit of fiddling and you MIGHT be able to get something good out of it.

I don't understand how it would be beneficial. With a GSR, taking it up to redline then shifting to third puts you right at your secondaries opening up. If you were to shift into fourth, you'd be even lower, with VTEC not even engaged yet.

shifting right into fourth will take you partly outta the power band i think? whats the power band for a GS-R? I know itz 170hp @ 7600 rpm...but ranges does the power band fall in? when im racin, i dont think i get it up to 7600 rpm...too scared that my engine will fall out haha...abuse isnt good...well, not all the time at least

Easy way to fix that. Instead of getting mods that only help top end hp. Try improving ur Torque, it will make up for your taller gears. Thats why mustangs have good 1/4 even with not that much hp.

One things for sure, learning the quickest (and safest) way to drop from 5th at 80mph into 3rd is the most beneficial way of making up for our poor excuse for torque.

I usually reserve my 5-3 shifts for speeds of around 55-65mph. Anything above that and I either wouldn't attempt anything (why are you street racing anyways) or shift to 4th.
