ABS conversion
Hi everyone, I was wondering what exactly is involved in giving a civic abs. I'm looking into buying a 93 Si and I was wondering what is involved. I ran a search and all i could find was that it was a lot of work. Is it just calipers, Mastercyliner, and ecu or what.
thanks
thanks

You'll need to run a TON of brake lines, meaning bending pipe, flaring ends, etc. You'll need the ABS unit itself, the fuse box for it, new knuckles that have the mounting for the abs sensors, the sensors, new rear hubs and front axles with the ring gear for the sensor on them, and I'm sure more. That's all that I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh, and abs sucks... I've almost gotten into accidents while driving cars that had it because I was counting on the brakes locking up. It sucks in the snow, cause the tires can't bite in the same. Personal opionion, and not many share it. :fawk:

well, considering it doesn't snow here and I'm used to the brakes not locking, I think abs beats the hell out of non-abs.
being able to brake and swerve is :deek:

hmm, nevermind on the brakes then, but thanks guys
i may still get the Si though, my friend is selling it pretty cheap and it has been taken care of, just trying to make it a little safer in a way since it would probably turn into my daily driver. I was just worried cause she said she had some trouble with it during rain/snowy weather
