Exactly how crappy is a DX motor?
I have a 98 DX, and from what I've heard/read/and felt while driving, the DX motor is pretty shitty compared to the rest of the civic motors. Exactly how much potential would this SOHC Non-VTEC have? I am currently at around 75,000 miles....it's been drivin pretty hard since 60,000....
With a decent turbo setup, what kinda numbers am I looking at to the wheels? In the 1/4? How safe is it to run with stock internals on a DX, and how long before I do damage (if any) to the motor. I have heard that the internals are easily broken? I duno...
I am debating whether to swap out for an LS/Turbo set-up, If i can find a good deal... I was just wondering if it would be worth it to just slap a turbo on this motor...
I have been reading about all these guys turboing there stock motors and running stock internals with 11 psi...
Thanks for any Input...
or mabye even an EX motor...i duno i've been thinking about this for a while....

like i said before, if bisi can make an N/A sohc 1.5L dx engine go 10.57 then i think its a decent engine to say the least. if you like the challenge keep it, if you want the easy way out then swap it.

Sure, you could build the DX motor, but not without a lot of work . If you dont want to do a complete swap you could also consider a mini me set-up (ex head on dx motor). If you turbo it you might be looking at around 160-170 at the wheels on 8-9 psi. But 11 psi on a stock internalled DX motor isn't gonna fly for too long . Do what you want, the easy way would be a swap, but any honda motor can be built.

Back to the point though, I've got a 97 DX and plan on changing to an EX head with ZC pistons/rods and a crower cam. I'm hoping that as long as I change everything over to Y8 specs (oil pump, ECU, etc.) maybe hopefully I'll get up around 140WHP. You guys think that's likely? Anyway, with this setup it'll be very streetable and will pull hard enough for my purposes.
