yeah..
Something like that. lol.
Need something to daily drive. Won't be dailying the sedan. And wife wants a daily too. The Xterra doesn't get the greatest gas mileage.

The sunburned paint would bug the hell out of me.
Asking 2600 seems optimistic, given that a clutch and (I presume) timing belt will be mandatory by summer.
And I'll bet, based on time, that the ABS accumulator is about to go.
IMO, it's false economy.
I'd look for something newer with fewer miles / issues.

3 codes, Vtec solenoid, o2 sensor, and CYP Sensor.
Brakes were very soft, but pads were good. Pretty sure the master or booster was going bad.
Had a pretty bad oil leak. Everything underneath was soaked.
Belts whined, alignment was off, tires were bad, passenger window didn't go down, ect.
Just all kinds of issues. Probably could have got it for 1500, but I still would have been upset.

But sounds like you did the right thing by walking away. I've bought 2 cars for under $2200 apiece, and neither of them had as many obvious things wrong after a test drive as that car does... and I still had to get rid of both of them within a year or two of purchase due to hidden problems cropping up. I probably wouldn't go below about the $4000 range for a DD, even a beater. Totally agree with Dave, the false economy of buying a cheap car will catch up with you very quickly with the cost of repairs and downtime. Better to spend a little more upfront and get something that won't have so many issues waiting to jump up and bite you.

2000 LS (special edition).
Has 247k on it, but an old guy owned it and it was towed behind an RV for about 150k.
Motor is clean, car is BONE stock. Did a compression test on it, 180 across the board.
He was asking $3500. Got it for $3k.
I'm very happy with it.
