Heat Shield

What if one were to remove the heat sheild that covers the exhaust manifold? Would anything extremely bad happen? I'm not sure why I want to do this, but I've decided it must happen (yea I know, wtf). Sounds like fun. I know it's easily replacable and removable. I like turning wrenches. Any objections?
