Replacing rear main seal?

My '92 Civic VX has an oil leak and the best I call tell its coming from the rear main seal on the engine. The transmission is full of oil and the engine oil level drops fairly fast. Without taking things apart, I feel pretty confident that its the seal.

My question: Can you pull the tranny back from the motor enough to replace the seal (and probably clutch since I'm in there) without having to move the motor? I've replaced two Honda motors in the past, but I've never just worked on a tranny.

You're going to need to drop the oil pan and loosen the main caps after removing the flywheel to get to the rear seal. You can do it with the engine in the car, but it does make things a bit more cramped.

I guess this is how you do it on all engines right? I want to replace mines while i am in there doing the clutch this time, :D
