i hope your ready to pay some cash for those ****in things....

OSX2000 11-23-2003 03:48 PM

I got mine on eBay...$162 I think it was, and I got the lights, connector cables, rods, all in OEM Honda boxes. One of my best purchases I think, definitely worth it.

Motohip 11-24-2003 12:39 AM

You have no wrinkle in your door panel  I like your door lock button, wish I had one :(

OSX2000 11-24-2003 01:06 AM

Even I am still in awe of my flawlessly smooth door panels... Just a perk of having one of the last Sols off the US-bound assembly line I guess.

Your Sol doesn't have power locks?

rtpassini 11-24-2003 09:21 AM

mine doesnt have power locks either, because its a 93. and no door wrinkle!? DAMN YOU! ;)

DelSolSIinMD 11-24-2003 12:12 PM

I have both door wrinkle and no power locks. I would really appreciate power locks, but I don't trust myself with the job in the winter when my hands are cold (no garage) - I'm sure I'd damage the door forever. As it is, it takes so little time to break into the car when I lock myself out (rare), you barely have to look at it the wrong way and it clicks open. Power locks would also mean I could add a nice alarm...

And the charlatan mechanic I asked quoted me an absurd $600 for both doors, including labor, to add Honda OEM door locks. WhatEVER.

tib 11-24-2003 12:52 PM

i got no door wrinkle on my side :rick: but the passenger side is showing a little... my "lock" sticker on the driver's side came off too, i guess i should remove the other one sometime

DelSolSIinMD 11-24-2003 12:57 PM

I have a weird issue with the lock itself on the driver's side. When you are locking the door from the inside, you have to pull out the little arm about halfway and push in the lock tab while the arm is held there. This happens whether the door is open or closed. This happen to anyone else? It's done it since the day I bought the car, and at first I assumed it was some kind of child-protection. But after about a month it occured to me: "Childproof locks? In a DEL SOL?? On the driver's side???"

Also annoying: after locking myself out once I tried to pick the passenger side lock with a bobby pin....only to have the pin drop between the lock and the door, so it sits inside the door panel. When I drive at low speeds I can hear it tinkling around inside the door. How annoying!

On another note: anyone know how to remove door wrinkle?

tib 11-24-2003 01:05 PM

i have issues with my locks too... the driver's side only opens when i unlock it from that door, but both doors unlock when i do it from the passenger side. also, when i accidently press lock instead of unlock, then try to unlock the doors, it wont unlock... they will for a second, then close up agian, and i cant open them up by hand either!

as for door wrinkle... no clue unless you want to re-cover your door

It's only supposed to do that when the door is open, and all Sols do it. It's meant to keep you from locking your keys in and yourself out of the car. It's supposed to force you to lock the door from the outside.

Not sure why yours does it when the door is closed...

There's little holes on the other side of the door panel. Have you seen the thing they use to fix bubbles in vinyl flooring? It's like a saringe and you inject adhesive with it. I was thinking about buying one of those and trying it, but never got around to it.

rtpassini 11-24-2003 10:21 PM

haha are you kidding? i can break into a lot of imports in a matter of seconds. but anywho! :D.....www.autoloc.com this site is great, im going to order some stuff off of it.

I've heard it works, but it's only temporary...just like the OEM stuff. Give it a couple years and it'll pop up again.

OSX2000 11-28-2003 12:57 AM

Woah I didn't know InlineFour sold the maplights!

Motohip 12-12-2003 10:59 PM

I can't even count how many time I've need light and the stupid dome light was too far back and not bright enough.

OSX2000 12-13-2003 01:38 AM

Oh man, the maplights are so great...I could leave my dome light permanently off and I wouldn't miss it. The maps are infinitely more useful.

...That and they make for some beautiful night time shots:

DSOLSI 12-14-2003 03:25 AM

thats a pretty picture osx2000, almost makes me wanna go spend some money.

one question: do you need the door rods or is that just to make the lights come on when you open the door.

OSX2000 12-14-2003 10:50 AM

I'm actually not even sure what the lock rods they sell are for...I didn't need them. I don't have any problems with the lights interfering with the locks, though I did have to adjust the handle cable in its clip.

The only way I can think of to make them come on when the door opens, would be to wire them directly to the dome light...and that would turn them both on when either door is open...kinda annoying IMO.

Most people tie them into the power window circuit, but that means they only work when the ignition is on, so I went a different route. I ran wires from the doors into the cabin and plugged them into the fuse box with the dome light's fuse...seemed appropriate.

DSOLSI 12-14-2003 04:21 PM

i may have to get me some, i'll put that on my list stuff to get.
thanks for the info.
