AC compressor suppose to be easy to spin by hand?

My old ac compressor stop turning on (not the part that attaches to the belt, but the compressor). It was said to be very tight to turn, compared to his civic.

So i got a used one, and its not so easy to spin either. I notice the pully on it spins very freely with a touch, but the compressor needs to be turned by hand. Is it suppose to be kinda tight?

BTW, could/should I WD-40 the area in between the compressor and pulley?

the pulley should offer resistance only when the clutch is engaged (i.e. the compressor is working). that is, the clutch between the pulley and the compressor that engages when you turn on the A/C. otherwise, it should spin freely.

it should have some resistance (not the belt pully, im talking about the clutch portion) the clutch portion has to spin the compressor shaft or whatever the fuck mechanism compresses the refrigerant. so i imagine there should be some resistance since you are turning the compressor shaft and not the belt pully

also...if it is removed from the vehicle and then it will be easier to turn than if it was installed on a charged ac system because you arent having to compress refrigerant
