ABS pump motor over-run
My ABS light is on all the time. Once I start the car, it takes about 35 seconds for the zzzzzzzzzz noise to stop and the ABS light to turn on.
My ABS 15A fuse is fine. I checked the error codes and I got three times the same code number: 1) 1 2) 1 3) 1 After looking at the ABS DTCs... This tells me that the problem is with the ABS pump motor over-run. What should I do next??? |
Maybe someone with a Helms manual will chime in. Sounds to me like your ABS has officially crapped the bed. I would think you need the accumulator and modulator, which would be quite an expensive fix. (If you purchase parts from Honda).

If that's the case, can I just unplug the 15A ABS fuse and forget about the ABS system? My regular baking system works fine.

Ok, here is the description for DTC 1: ABS pump motor over-run
-Air mixed in with ABS fluid -Pressure switch stuck off -Open circuit between the pressure switch and ABS control unit. -Open circuit between the P-SW circuit between the pressure switch and body ground, poor body ground. -Drop in pump discharge volume. -Leaking modulator unit outlet valve. -Leaking relief valve. -ABS brake fluid leakage. -Faulty ABS control unit. :( So, sounds like for the most part it could be an easy fix. The last couple of options are what I would be concerned about... I'm going to try and get my scanner working and scan in the TS pages for ya.. Don't hold your breath though, this scanner is posessed. :rolleyes: |
Well I wouldn't give up on the ABS unit just yet. Like Functionmotoring said it could be an easy fix. Bleeding the ABS system could fix the problem, as air could have gotten in. I just had a hunch that your ABS had failed. It sounds like your not to concerned about it which is cool.
I'm not to fond of the ABS on my Integra anyways. Sometimes when I brake I can feel a pulsation (is that a word) in the pedal. I'm sure I will have the same problem here soon.

Here is the origin of the problem:
One day I replaced both rear calipers, rear disks, and rear pads. I bled the brakes and the person I was working with let go some ABS brake fluid by bleeding the ABS system as well (I don't think he knew what he was doing. I think all he did was he opened the valve once and closed it but some brake liquid did come off). It's now been about 6 months and the abs unit always make a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz noise when I start the car. It's driving me crazy!!!!! Plus, it seems to be longer and longer. Now, I would say it takes about 35 seconds for the noise to stop and the ABS light to go on. Thanks for the DTC 1 description, I will check if I have ABS brake fluid leakage tonight. If not, I will make sure I have enough ABS brake fluid (dot3) in the ABS reservoir, will bleed the ABS system, and fill up the ABS reservoir. I hope this will do it. |
Forgot to mention, my car is an Acura Integra 97 GS.

I found the problem.
ABS: My reservoir was empty!!! I filled it to maximum capacity and the ABS light is not coming back anymore. Now, let hope that the reservoir stays full!!! Thanks |

:confused: So why doesn't the DTC description mention anything about low ABS fluid. That info was taken from a Helms manual correct.

If it was my list, yeah... The one-line description was taken directly from my '95 Integra Helm book. Then over the next 40 pages there's detailed descriptions for what to do for each one of those codes.

My ABS light hasn't come back since I filled up the reservoir. It's been one day now and the level of the reservoir is still the same. It's all good, thanks!
