Excel/numbers folks: I need halp
I'll try to make this brief. I've been doing research on suicide statistics over the past couple months. I'm doing this research for some very powerful elected officials, and if the math isn't accurate I'm screwed. To combat this, I'm going at the numbers from a few different angles to ensure accuracy and cover my ass.
The math is simple. You take the number of suicides per county * 100,000, then divide that number by the County's population for that year. An example calculation would be (6 suicides * 100,000)/(55,000) to yield a rate of 10.9 Suicides per 100k people. I have this set up in excel (I'm using numbers on my mac), and in column B I have the raw suicide number. In column C I have the population. I basically need the write the simple equation to perform this simple math 66 times (66 counties in the state I'm doing research in). How do I go about doing this? Looks like this: X Parish | Raw Suicide | Total Pop | XYZ | 8 | 75215 | ABC | 27 | 112865 | See what I mean? I don't want to go through and punch in the calculations each time. I just want to create the formula, save it to hotkey Z or something, and pound out some numbers. I've search and searched and found nothing. A cookie for the winner. |
=(B1*100000)/C1
put that in the cell you want the total. then select it, go to the bottom right corner and drag down. it'll change the cell references for you. If your data start in the second row, just make them B2, C2. |

No hate zackk :o |
lulz
too smart for his own good o: |
Alright, cacs. :o
I've made my tables and now want to copy pasta my rates into a master sheet. When I go to copy it comes up blank, due to the variables in the math persistent to the location. :madr: What do. |
='Sheet 2'!C2
or whatever worksheet name and cell# you need |
I figured it out.
Dicks. |
copy pasta

I had the answer, but it was already said.
