Runs great with cold a/c. Mechanically this car has been a dream, only having to replace typical moter parts like, battery, starter, alternator, water pump, new a/c compressor last year. Original V-tech motor that has never been touched. This car has been drivin so delicatly, it still has the ORIGINAL CLUTCH! With its V-tech motor and 5 speed tranny, this is a very fun and dependable car to drive. A few cosmetic flaws but an awsome car. First person to look at it WILL BUY IT! ( no low ballers, i have room to work at that price, but not alot).

Calls or tex only.

Thoughts?

Going to look at it in about 2 hours.

The sunburned paint would bug the hell out of me.
Asking 2600 seems optimistic, given that a clutch and (I presume) timing belt will be mandatory by summer.
And I'll bet, based on time, that the ABS accumulator is about to go.

IMO, it's false economy.
I'd look for something newer with fewer miles / issues.

The fuck!? I thought I told you to keep your eyes closed! :chuckles:

goon54 04-10-2012 12:43 PM

hitman619 04-10-2012 12:55 PM

Buy It!
Swap in a H22 plus a paint job:goodjob:

My bad...I actually had to look it up, and totally forgot the EX had the SOHC VTEC in it :oh:

shoulda had an H22A in it from the get go. I never understood why they always shafted the U.S market on engine selections.

Snoopy 04-10-2012 03:07 PM

Something like that. lol.
Need something to daily drive. Won't be dailying the sedan. And wife wants a daily too. The Xterra doesn't get the greatest gas mileage. :(

sell all of your busted up cars, get a nice one, and spend more time doing other things like Halo 3.

Went and seen it. It was pretty beat. Check engine light was on, so we pulled the codes right there.
3 codes, Vtec solenoid, o2 sensor, and CYP Sensor.

Brakes were very soft, but pads were good. Pretty sure the master or booster was going bad.
Had a pretty bad oil leak. Everything underneath was soaked.
Belts whined, alignment was off, tires were bad, passenger window didn't go down, ect.

Just all kinds of issues. Probably could have got it for 1500, but I still would have been upset. :(

But I like working on cars, and I'm actually kind of good at that. :wtc:

4cylender V-Tech
That's some impressively bad spelling and punctuation.

But sounds like you did the right thing by walking away. I've bought 2 cars for under $2200 apiece, and neither of them had as many obvious things wrong after a test drive as that car does... and I still had to get rid of both of them within a year or two of purchase due to hidden problems cropping up. I probably wouldn't go below about the $4000 range for a DD, even a beater. Totally agree with Dave, the false economy of buying a cheap car will catch up with you very quickly with the cost of repairs and downtime. Better to spend a little more upfront and get something that won't have so many issues waiting to jump up and bite you.

2000 LS (special edition).
Has 247k on it, but an old guy owned it and it was towed behind an RV for about 150k.

Motor is clean, car is BONE stock. Did a compression test on it, 180 across the board.
He was asking $3500. Got it for $3k.

I'm very happy with it. :)

hitman619 04-11-2012 06:43 PM

My buddy thinks so too. Not going to happen though. Teg is comfy and nice for DD. haha.
So stoked about this car. I will take some decent pics some time this week.

It has a few little dents and dings, but nothing major. Runs like a champ.
