Honda Accord 98-02: Resetting Maintenance Required Indicator

1) Turn they key to the II position
2) Turn the key to the off position, and push and hold in the odometer reset button
3) Turn they key back to the II position, while still holding the button.
4) After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off.

I can't believe I actually had to post that :fawk:

Honda Accord 98-02 and Civic '03: Resetting Maintenance Required Indicator

Thank you, kindly my man!!! I called Honda a year ago and they would've done me the favor of performing a 10K oil change and reset for the low cost of $99.00. I wasn't buying that!!! I have changed the Oil and Filter myself and now a YEAR LATER, you have given me the KEY to resetting that F'ing LAMP.

Thank you greatly, I love the internet!
Mark

Thanks a bunch!

I am not a mechanic but can do the simple things like change oil and other minor maintenance but that stupid light was bugging me. The same "trick" worked on my 2004 Civic Si. Thank you so much!!!

Thanks dude!

Imagine how many people you helped who didn't want to ask because they didn't want to sound stupid.

If you get your oil changed at a dealership half the time the people who change your oil will not reset this light if it isn't on at the time, i know i almost always forgot .

Don't feel stupid. My wife had a 99 Pontiac Grand Am w/ oil maintenance light indicator but was not included in the manual how to reset. Finally in 2002, a nice young man at Wal-Mart in Frederick MD showed me how to do it. I asked how he found out. He said, "by accident."

Thanx a billion

I am so glad that the 7 seconds of flashing maintenance is now gone. I have a question is it set to go off at 5k or 3k I changed the oil and it started going off at some random point since I started changing it myself. All I know is I am glad it worked and also I had to reset my SRS love forums! Thanks Again!!!!:yay:
