What would u do with 7,000 dollars?

Me and my friends are going to do the alaska fishing trip.... I will come back with money!! Bling Bling.. I don't want to spend it all but, 7000 is the most... (thats sounds like to much...) anyway. My plans are small right now.. What would you do with that much money... My plans right now are somewhat out of tune. Still not quite sure...

Oh yes I have a b18c1

1. Build my motor... (sounds vague{sp?}) but I don't really know where to go. I think I might go turbo. But what are setups for NA to?
2. Finish My hondata, get everything else added to it.
3.Integra brakes all around
4. Rims.. (need them I can't launch very nice with 13's)
5. Header, Exhaust
6. Front lip, maybe some EK sides

What would you guys suggest??

Paulll 01-11-2004 11:47 AM

build the b18c1 fo turbo, say hello to 400hp

Dubs 01-11-2004 11:55 AM

With 7,000 grand you could build up you B18C1 substantially and slap a semi-large turbo on there...and like Paulll said...Say hello to a butload of power.

frank 01-11-2004 12:14 PM

whoa i don't see how this 7000 dollars arises, you go on a fishing trip and you get 7000 from it? like you sell the fish or something? cause you said you were going to come back WITH the money..
anyway, if i were you, i'd put 5k into some savings/GIC investment thing and just spend 2k into your car, i think your cars good enough and with 2k it would be sensible fast not like stupid fast.

Paulll 01-11-2004 12:29 PM

hondata is a must
Gsr brakes sounds like a good item
Get some 15in rotas with very good tires
3in catback w/o cat, you wont need a header since you should go turbo
the front lip and ek sides should not cost more than 300 so you can do that get that out of the way if you need it,

It takes a lot to get big numbers out of a n/a setup, so turbo is the best way. You will also need some suspension, depending on what you want to do, some Coilovers and koni yellows are a good choice, or you can go with some tein full coilovers.

you should do things in this order (imo)
1. Coilover setup
2. Lips and such
3. send you motor off to be built
4. Get hondata
5. buy misc parts
6. put everything together, break in the motor, and get it tuned before you beat on it.

After that, you should have a good amount of power, and be able to run it safe.

asiandoood 01-11-2004 01:12 PM

IF...i had 7k dedicated to my car with your setup, it would go to:

1. Toda Spec B Cams and valvetrain. (I'm not a turbo guy :p :p ) $1400
2. GSR or 96 spec ITR (4x114.3) brakes around $400-$700
3. Comptech Icebox $150
4. Comptech Header $450
5. RS*R exhaust $500
6. Work RSZ*R wheels (15x7) $1400
7. OEM honda optional equipment lip $150
8. TEIN SS coilovers $900
9. JDM OE headlamps $400
10. HID H4 kit $500

You'll have both a well balanced performing fast and good looking car :)

white_n_slow 01-11-2004 01:42 PM

brake swap fo sho.

I dunno about the rest of that stuff... up to you I guess.

If I had $7k, I'd buy a '94 Saab 9000 Aero and gut my hatch.

honda_pilot 01-11-2004 02:00 PM

haha I would BUY a nicer car than my 93 beater....

Bakeoff 01-11-2004 03:05 PM

I'd slap an h22 into a crx for a weekend car....

If i had 7G's I would save up for around half a year and use it for a downpayment for my first car :D

illicon2003 01-11-2004 08:35 PM

Hmmmm 7000 huh.......3000 goes in the bank.....3500 into the car..500 in the wallet

i definently wouldnt spend all the money on my car, keep some around you never know when something will go wrong with your car and then you wont have money to fix it.

I'll find one clean B18C6 engine, and get some NA trim. Thats all. :)

Section8Blammo 01-12-2004 07:13 AM

Save another 3g's, use as downpayment on a house with a big, heated garage, and use the house as collateral on a loan to finance the car project. Or turbo H22. :)

Redcivic 01-12-2004 07:44 AM

Can you say $7,000.00 down on a used STI or EVO? Or take the smart route and put it into a CD where you can't touch it. Oh, and by Alaskan fidhing trip you mean working on a crab boat huh? I'd rather head to the persian gulf and work on an oil rig, at least you won't freeze your ass off. I have a buddy that made $65k in 6 months when we were younger. You work 18 hour days but then your off for 6 months. I have heard it's like $100k now.

Nelson 01-12-2004 11:29 AM

I'd save the $7000 as downpayment on a new car :rick:

I'd find a Dodge Colt GT hatchback for $500 somewhere, swap a stock $600 6-bolt 4g63 in it with a $350 ACT clutch, a used 16g turbo and 2g SMIC for $350, and go run high 11's at 20 PSI. That way you have like $5500 or so left over. You'd have something else to drive when a car breaks, and a $7000 Honda upgrade would look silly compared to what that Colt would do at the track for only $1800.

I know a shop owner who did that with 2 colts, those suckers were FAST as all hell. :goodjob:

DakarM 01-12-2004 12:57 PM

I would add it to the money I have already and either buy a Lotus Elise or

buy a 00-01 PY ITR and spend about 5K or so on upgrades. suspension, exhaust, ecu to hondata + tune, tires/light weight wheels, new seat with 5 point harness and SCCA approved rollcage and gut the interior (ummm gut it some more :D ) then go autox the crap out of it :)

A shop here called ET Motorsports has a turbo mirage that runs high 11's. It may not look like much but I have never seen it out run on the street.:)

You met Bill Testerman. I wanted to buy one of his hatches that he had up for sale, but it's gone already. Bill's cool as shit. He's a die-hard Mirage/Colt fanatic. He's got several cars, but he'll tell you he doesn't want to drive anything else. That has to be the ultimate sleeper car.

I wish those things weren't so rare. Every time I find a good deal on one, or one that's been built right, someone buys it out from under me. Once it was while I went a mile up the road to get money from an ATM... Gone by the time I got back.

I guess the word is out on those things now. Thanks Bill. :chuckles:
