reverse indiglos?

How do you instal reverse indiglos. I got mine for free from the guy i got my exhaust from and I decided to try them. But I couldnt get the face over the back of the needle? I didnt want to force it becasue I know the clusters are expensive. Any suggestions? I have a 5th gen by the way.
