If various levels of gun control are going to remain a state issue, they should remain a state issue. Getting a concealed permit in certain states is easy as pie, while very difficult in others. What is the point of legislation in one state of you can go get a concealed permit in another and use it in a state with strict regulation?

I can assure you the "true" vote was defeated by alot more than two votes. There were plenty that voted yes to have pro gun votes on their record because they knew it wouldn't pass.
I'm torn on the issue.
On the one hand, there is national driver's license recognition so why shouldn't there be handgun recognition but at the same time, I more-so appreciate the rights of the states to do as they choose and the less the .gov is telling the states what to do the better.
It would have more so regulated recognition of resident permits than anything.
IOW say I have an LA handgun permit, there are only about 27 states I can carry my handgun in but 47 states do allow concealed handgun permits to be issued.
That is the jest of the argument for national reciprocity.

I think if there was a federal guideline for CCW requirements then it would be more sensible to issue a nationwide reciprocity. Also, I'd think that no matter what if something were to pass that you are required to get the CCW in your home state in which you've resided for x number of years.
Short post but I may elaborate more when I get home.

My biggest fear is that if we get to the point where the nation is giving us concealed handgun rights then it is just a right that they can now take away. They can't do that while it's state controlled.
