Not really liking the tail lamps...sort of a rip of the RX300/RX330 theme...but whatever, it's trivial.
Still a nice vehicle. I like them both.

Of the two variants, the tail lighs on the o4 model are so awful, they ruin the whole rear elevation.
If I had to pick between the two, I'll stick with the 03 model. But then again, I doubt I'll pick an SUV anytime soon at any rate.

I think the front, rear and interior are huge improvements. I like the job they did.
Query: Why did they spend so much money updating such a hot selling model?

I like the '03 wheels, headlights and tail lights much more. Other than that its pretty much the same car, right? I guess that means I prefer the '03 to the '04.
![]() :edit: The dual rectangular exhaust is a little silly. Looks like its trying to be a yukon or escalade or something.

I like the new front grill, and I'm not exactly sure about how big of a difference the rest of the front is, but I know that those taillights are HIDEOUS.........what was Acura thinking?!

Yeah I don't like the taillights at all, it looks like it is trying to be a wannabe RX. Other then that though its all good, although the taillights are so bad i would pick the 03

I doubt they spent a significant amount of money to upgrade the MDX. Most of the changes are simple cosmetic component swaps, with relatively few mechanical changes.
But I think its obvious why Acura decided to make changes to the MDX, even though it is hot-selling. Just think of all the entry-level luxury SUVs that have entered the market in the last 12 months that compete with the MDX. You have the Murano, FX35, Toureag, XC90, Endeavor, updated RX330, and Aviator. Then you need to see that the SRX, 9-7, and X3 will coming for the 04 model year. And thats already on top of all the other entry-level luxury SUVs that are in a similar price bracket. I have a sinking feeling someone is going to start whining that some of these aren't direct competitors of the MDX... |

How come from this angle it looks like a Isuzu Rodeo.
Not feeling the rim treatment, back lights and mufflers either. But it will still sell well.

I meant significant on relative terms. No doubt these changes will cost Honda money, but overall its a small price to pay to retain leadership (and sales volume) in that segment. Besides, I'm positive Acura makes good profit off the MDX models.

I didn't like this at first, but I saw a commercial for it last night and it looks pretty damn good in black.
