2004 Acura TL *undisguised*

Quote:

My only big complaint is the Acura embossed on the front bumper, other than that its a big .

Oh...and I should credit "Lycos" from another TSX forum for taking the pictures.

Oh meng, this car looks kinda ugly, but the front looks like a TSX. The rear isn't that bad and nor is the dashboard design. However, whats with the side line from the side signal to the rear marker light?

And the steering wheel is just

Change the steering wheel, rearview mirrors, and get rid of that side line, then maybe I will like it.

When I first saw the concept, my first reaction was a bigger TSX and I was close. More luxurios and interior looks good but Im hoping they would differentiate the exterior styling more.

It looks super good in my opinion. Only the steering wheel is too fat.

My only qualms are the steering wheel and the 'Acura' written in the front... but I can live with those. This is a great looking vehicle, inside and out.

I have to say I'm impressed with the new TL. I'll have to see the spec sheet, but I am sure its as amazing as the design. While I wish they also would have differentiated it a bit more from the TSX, I think you'd have to be blind in one eye not to be able to tell the difference, even in the front. That line on the side is kind of bizarre, especially the red light on the tail side end of the car. What is that for??? The interior is very nice, far better than most other entry level luxury cars for sure.

It's not bad looking. It doesn't have that substantial look to it though, meaning: it doesn't look much like a luxury car.

If this car does have awd and a 6 speed...It will be a tough decision between this and the g35 when I go car shoppin early next year. while I still prefer the looks of the g35s exterior...the interior is definately nicer in the tl. However the awd, 6 speed and comparible power to the g35 are all musts.

I kinda like it. I like how they differentiate it more from the TSX. Interior looks nice as always Can't wait to see the engine specs
There're some things that bug me about this car though, like the acura writings on the front bumper and the exhaust tips make the car looks like a pontiac. This is sad

The exhaust tips may look like a Pontiac, but now idiots can't modify their exhausts like what they did with the old ones. I like these exhaust tips.

I wish the new TL had the "projector" style lens like the TSX. Doesn't appear that it does. Anyways, I think that the car looks both sporty and luxurious, more so than many other cars on the market. From the side profile, it looks like a grown-up 3-series. Also the interior is also really well done.

The specs should be pretty close to what people have been saying. 270+hp, 6sp manual, and AWD (which may come a year later). Pricing should move upwards a bit to set it apart from the TSX, but I'd say 32k-34k is probably right.

I also think its kind of tacky that they printed "ACURA" on the front, but its going to be covered by a license plate anyways.

i dont like it... the exterior looks like a Caddy and a Jag cross. Way too domestic plastic looking exterior. The Acura imprint in front looks domestic, and the steering wheel is nasty.

honda did a bettery job styling wise with the TSX.

the rear wheel well looks friggin tiny. like the rim is a 15 inch or something. its the proportions of the back end of the car that make it look like that. i think thats the worst part of the car.

otherwise, the stance is good, i like the sheet metal on the sides/door panels, and the flared wheel wells. the mirrors looks weird. too large and bulky, and the base of the mirrors are oddly shaped. the straight line running from the front sidemarker to the rear sidemarker is okay... it adds some distinction and a little detail to the body panels. i think it works the addition of that line and the way the "side skirts" are designed i think make the car look lower than it actually is, and makes the rear look smaller than it really is.

the rear end looks nice, but i think it looks a little like a cadillac.

and yes, steering wheel looks fat as hell

Looks amazing, IMO. I can't decide whether or not I liked the Acura embossed on the front. I've got it on my integra, and I dont think it looks that bad on it. I like the new grill, it looks way better with the middle bar thickened up, it gives it more character.
I don't know, the whole damn thing looks amazing......the interior, the exterior, the character line running down the side. Now all I want are the specs........

Not bad. The tach says the engine redlines at 7000RPM, yet there's no Type S badges. The last gen. TL-P's had a redline significantly lower than that.

Must have been some engine changes.

Uh, the front looks good and so does the interior (gauges remind me a little of the ES300), but I can't deal with the rear. It just reeks of Pontiac.

Hate the rear, Love the front, Love the interior except I agree the steering wheel is too fat. I don't really want to say all and all how I like it because I know many times once you see the car in person it is completely different, I have a feeling it would look great when it is sitting right in front of me in traffic.

I don't get all these comments about the steering wheel being too fat. This is exactly how a steering wheel should be...fat! When I grab a wheel, I want to feel like speedy gonzalez. For instance the thickness and diameter of the S2000's wheel are perfect. The only thing I'm not sure about on the wheel is that semi-pentagonal buldge.

And yes...bigger wheels, but I guess that's what the Type-S will be reserved for.

Is is me or are there a lot of buttons? Although I bet its much simpler looking when actually sitting in the car.

I hate the new TL's steering wheel, its just fat and ugly.

I like the 2003 TL's steering wheel more than that new one's, but I like my TSX's three spoke wheel the best. Also, my CR-V's steering wheel isn't that bad either.

I like my TSX's steering wheel. I just can't stand to look at that TL's wheel without saying big and "ugly"!

Other than that, I can get used to that car when I see it in person. The front looks like the TSX and I like how they made the exhausts, now people can't put fartcans on them.

Again the things I would like to see changed is steering wheel and the side thingy that goes from the front side signal to the rear side marker.

The CR-V's steering wheel aren't bad, I like it, but minus those damned horn buttons, but oh wellz. I got used to them, yet Alice drives the V more than me.

If the TSX rides on standard 17"s, then it's a safe bet the TL will have standard 17"s, with the Type-S riding on 18"s. Those rims it has on in the spy shots look similar to the ones the concept used, and those were 18"s.

I read in a TSX forum that the engine displacement may have been bumped to 3.4 litres. Anyone else here rumors of the same thing? I'm not sure Honda would do that, since I think the new RL will use a 3.5L and the "new" Accord still uses its previous 3.0L engine with some major modifications.

I dunno why but I like it and I don't like it. From the front it looks like a Pontiac, and that strip running down the side of the car can go as well. The inside looks very good. H/A has done a nice job on this one. My only concern is the weight that it may have gained. If it is too much then the extra HP that it gains will be pretty much pointless...ala 2004 Maxima. But throw in the 6speed and AWD, and you have a winner. As far as looks go, I would rate this behind the A4 audi which IMO is the best looking
entry level luxury sedan.
