Whoa! The swooping A-pillars, short over-hangs, and bold character lines really make that thing look untamable.

Fantastic. An excellent direction for the Mustang. Hopefully it will go this way.

    Gorgeous.

I can understand why Ford played it safe redesigning the Mustang... but the lines on this concept work beautifully.

Interior is a bit over-the-top, though.

this is the car the re-designed 05 should have been.

I think it's about time that the mustang should start to float up-market-- honestly, ford's mustang name is the only thing it has right now IMHO. they need to make it worthwhile, even if that means destroying exactly what the mustang was set up to be in the first place (a pony-car that won't break your budget)

if this model was released now with a sticker of 30k i don't think that many mustang buyers would be discouraged, esp if they fixed some of the obvious design problems of the 05 redesign.

I wouldn't get so excited just now. Knowing Ford, the production model will probably be nothing like the concept.

if the 03 concept to 05 model was any indication than this should be pretty dead on.

for a better idea i'd count on the tails being more like the current model, and different headlight design.

this will go along with side mirrors and other standard amenities

The current side mirrors are probably just cameras. As far as everything else, I wouldn't count on the interior to be anything remotely close to the concept. It's going to be another one of Fords (and anyone else) boring interiors, with a huge steering wheel, airbags, generic leather, blah blah blah.

As far as the exterior, they just might the current design, but don't expect paint quality to be anything remote to the concept. And the glass roof? No way.

I'm sure if the production model was built to the level of the concept it would be an $80K car.

I'm just excited because outside design talent is EXACTLY what Ford needs. Particularly in the interior department, but also elsewhere.

Mustangs are meant to be inexpensive. Ford is in need of a modern luxosport coupe for Lincoln. They couldn't call it 'Mark IX' or 'Mark X,' though, now that the MKX CUV is here. [How confusing!]

Then again, with the Jaguar XK, who needs Lincoln? It depends who you ask ... some people believe Ford is trying to sell Jaguar. I don't see it happening, because there are no buyers (for Jaguar, not for personal luxosport coupes).

Lincoln doesn't need a coupe.. IMO, Mercury does.

The original Mercury Cougar started out as a cousin of the 67 Mustang.

Introducing the majority of the elements of this design into a new Mercury variant makes all the sense in the world IMO.
