Looks alot better to me. They've fixed the ant eater look that the front end had because of the bumper. The rear end is the biggest change and fixes the droppy butt look that the original had.

Rear end looks much better. I can't tell anything about the front yet.

That car is getting way too big. The 6th gen was the perfect size IMO.

OMG, IT looks 1000x time better with a new rear-end. The previous one was hideous. G'job Honda.

I agree...I sat in a new 4-door civic recently and I swear it was the same size as my 94 accord.

i guess in a way, they have to keep making it bigger. their typical competitors are doing the same with every new version, so they have to follow suit. it's probably a better strategy than coming out with a completely new car/name in a bigger size... the name accord has a lot of pull in this country. as the accord and civic continue to get bigger, they'll bring in another model underneath the civic (the honda Fit/Jazz).

i know exactly what you mean - the civic is almost ten inches shorter, and couple inches narrower (about one inch taller) than the 5th gen accord... but the interior of the new civic feels MUCH roomier. it (the civic) even has more rear leg room

In USA, big and wide mean good. Japanese cars are barely scratching the surface in terms of getting "big" compared to the older domestic cars from the 70s and 80s. It's not a good thing, but comparatively it's still pretty "slim."

hehe.

Actually, these new spy pictures of the 2006 MMC (mid-model change) Accord are far more flattering than the earlier spy pics from Priddy and that cellphone camera picture. It will be very interesting to see if Honda takes advantage of 170 bhp (SAE) from the K24 and 250 bhp (SAE) from the J30 engines that have been reworked for the 2006 models with changed gearing for the five-speed automatics and six-speed manuals for improved acceleration.

Now, let's see if Brenda Priddy & Company will come up with better 2006 Civic sedan and two-door coupé spy pics within the next two-three weeks!

You understand that this is just a refresh, and that the majority of the car hasn't changed?

Actually, I've heard there are a number of other changes not visible from the spy shots. That includes a revised front dash, more power from the K24 I-4 and J30 V-6 engines with no loss of fuel economy (or even improved fuel economy!), maybe changes in gearing for the AT5 and MT6 transmissions, and suspension changes with more emphasis on lower-profile tires.

Honda has to do this given that the next-generation Toyota Camry is due (supposedly) February 2006 as an early 2007 model.

the rear shot is that suppose to be a spoiler? the current coupe is ok.. the current 4 dr is ugly, the back lights are just ugly.. the accord has gotten a saggy jlow butt.. the lights look alittle better.. dont want the car to get too big.. u will have to take out the back seat and the spare to afford the gas.

I like the '04/'05 style (the rear is ugly but unique.)
The pics above will make the new Accord more mundane.

By the way...

...another Honda-oriented online forum (I'm sure most of you folks here know what that one is! ) has published the first clear pictures of lightly-disguised 2006 Civic sedan and coupé models. Note especially the rear trunk design, which has a very strong family resemblence to the 2006 MMC Accord!
