2006 Lexus IS250 & IS350
March 1, 2005 - Geneva
Lexus unveiled the second generation of its compact rear wheel drive IS sedan today. Scheduled for the 2006 model year, the new IS is a clean sheet design with new styling and powertrains. IS models announced announced at the Geneva show include the IS250 with a 2.5 liter V6 producing 204 hp and the IS220d with a 2.2 liter turbodiesel inline four producing 177 hp and a whopping 295 lb/ft of torque. The IS250 is headed to our shores, the IS220d is not, at least initially. Lexus plans to announce an IS300 with a 3.0 liter 245 hp V6 at the New York show.
Styling is very similar to the LF-C concept and follows the "L-Finesse" theme established by the LF-C, other concepts such as the LF-S sedan and LF-A exotic sports car, and the new 2006 GS which is sedan hitting dealer lots right now. Available features will include Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS), laser-guided Active Cruise Control (ACC), Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management stability control, Smart Key keyless entry and start system, voice-activated DVD navigation system, and up to 10 airbags. Look for the new IS to go on sale this fall.

blah
front looks like the last generation avalon
back looks ripped off from the 5 series
profile looks like the M45 (especially the c-pillar treatment on the rear windows)
also, the 6-speed manual will not be available at launch, right?

the C pillar is an obvoius rip off of the bmw hoffmeister(sp?) kink.
I see a lot of E60 as a well as E90. Overall it's an okay design. the 1st gen IS looks better IMO.

onto the IS. the triangles around the fogs are ugly. the grill from the gs is ugly. the ass is ugly. the rest is ok. anyone know how big it will be? hopefully larger than the current one because that is pretty cramped inside.
