Thank you all for your input. This newbie rider appreciates all your help.
I purchased the HJC-CL-Max helmet. I like the flexibility of being able to flip up the chin bar.
Coming off the 250cc Rebel and Nighthawk from the MSF course, the 600cc Shadow is a dream. The throttle is nice and smoothe, you don't have to crank it to get it to go. The power comes on very easy. Everything feels more "solid".
I'm going to keep this bike for a long while.

it is a good article though, really comprehensive and well researched.
The Wayne State Tolerance Curve is the result of a pretty gruesome series of experiments back in the '50s and '60s in which dogs' brains were blasted with bursts of compressed air, monkeys were bashed on the skull, and the heads of dead people were dropped to see just how hard they could be hit before big-time injury set in. This study's results were backed up by the JARI Human Head Impact Tolerance Curve, published in '80 by a Japanese group who did further unspeakable things to monkeys, among other medically necessary atrocities.

i broke my brake lever trying to straighten it (bent from getting dropped trying to get it on the center stand the 1st day)
cant ride til i get a new one
