To Passport or not to Passport

Yes, I am considering buying a 1996 Honda Passport EX because unfortunately I wrecked my del sol. I was wondering if anyone could give me good reasons to buy one or not to buy one. The one I am looking at is at an online auction which ends this evening at 6:00. So, this is my way of being sure about getting it. If anyone has any thoughts on the matter, any insight would be very helpful.

First of all, as you know, it's not a Honda. It's really an Isuzu Rodeo. So my recommendation to you is to realize you won't get the high reliability of a Honda like you are used to. And I am not bashing just because I am biased. There is an Edmunds.com review of a Rodeo that consistently died on them 3 times over their logn term testing. My sister has a 99 Rodeo and it stranded her twice when the car was less than 6 months old because it wouldn't start. Dealers could not figure out what was wrong. Thank goodness the problem disappeared and never returned so far. And the brakes are extremely subpar. Shakes and groans constantly.

Anyway, my view of Isuzu is not low, just not super high. So I think a Rodeo is a good SUV to get only if you want a real SUV that can offroad but can't afford the good ones, like Forerunner or Pathfinder.

Dont do it, when I worked in Honda parts half are orders were for the broken down Passports. I felt bad for people who thought they were buying a Honda when in reality it was an Isuzu. Even the parts came in Isuzu boxes and had Isuzu part numbers. Infact, whenever I needed to call another dealer for parts I rarely called another Honda dealer because chances were they didnt have them, I just called Isuzu.

I second that. I work at a Honda dealer, and these vehicles aren't Honda quality. It's an Isuzu Rodeo with Honda badges. If you're looking for an SUV, stick with the Pilot.

Just one word ...

WHY?

On a serious note ... I work on Hondas and this is by far the absolute WORST vehicle Honda has ever had in their fleet. Like others have said ... it ain't a Honda. It is a POS Isuzu Rodeo. You would be smarter flushing the money down the toilet then to spend it on one of these.
