Legend reliability
Hi, I'm looking into getting a v6 legend (possibly type 2) to use as a beater. I tried to search on its reliability or maintenance issues but not much came up. I basically just want to know what you guys think of getting a legend v6 that has 100+k on it and if it would be a maintenance whore or not. I know that older bmw 3 series with that mileage supposedly need a ton of maintenance. What do you guys think about the legend? Is it the same deal as other hondas as far as having the transmission being the weak link? Do head gaskets often blow...etc... I'm going to shoot for getting the newest generation. Thanks, kyle

I've read a lot of the threads on the front page about legend problems but that doesnt speak for the probability of something happening. Can anyone help me?

Hey man,
Legends are dead reliable mechanically...they'll blow a headgasket if you run it past normal operating temperatures, so just make sure everything is kosher with the cooling system, t-stat, etc.
Transmission wise you'll probably have to do a transmission around 175-200k, but they're (relatively) inexpensive now.
Otherwise should be smooth sailing. I've seen 300K on several.
