Need some opinions, suggestions. 'NA'
After riding in the gsr from "rode in a nice na gsr today" I decided for sure to go na. I have a 97 gsr and am thinking of getting valve springs and retainers, not sure what brand yet though, and probably some skunk 2 stage 1 cams or itr cams. Now, having that done, I've been told that obd1 compliments mods better than obd2, and was thinking of doing an obd1 conversion. What do you guys think, spring/retainer brands, stage 1's or itr's, obd1 worth it? Do stage 1's make power past the point where itr's do? Also, after being able to redline higher with those mods, would I be in danger of blowing my head gasget if I got on it? Thanx

skunk2, crower, portflow all make good springs and retainers. I would go with a stage 2 cam, you'll be more happy with it. Crower makes a good cam in the 402a, and the 403...the 402 uses a stock primary lobe, and a bigger vtec lobe, and the 403 uses bigger lobes on both. Your headgasket will be fine for revving higher, my roommate uses an OEM gasket on regular trips to 9500 rpm. If you want to take advantage of your cams/springs/retainers, you will have to do an OBD1 conversion, so you can either run a hondata or chipped ecy.

Thanks a lot for the info. But the guy that has the incredible na gsr told me that I'd want to run a higher compression if I did stage 2's. He said that with the stock compression I would probably wanna go with stage 1 or itr cams. Anyone else think so?

very similar, i believe there is only a 3 degree difference on one of the lobes or something, not really sure
