Few questions about '96 GSR
Okay so I'm looking to buy a '96 GSR from my dad's friend who's owned it since new. It has about 102,229 miles on it, its in great condition and the car is pretty much stock, no mods nothing. The cars doesn't have any problems that I know of and I've checked the carfax report and its clean. What I wanna know is shelling out close to $7,000 worth it? To me it seems pretty steep but what do I know I've never owned GSR before and I've always wanted one just never really had the money to purchase one until now. This is also gonna be my first car that I've bought with my own money and I'm pretty excited. I just wanted to get your opinions since the majority of you know your talking about. Thanks.

definitely steep. but check the interior condition (leather, cloth..?) remember when you start adding mods (which even if you dont plan on it you will) a good intake is 200 to 300. then you have a header such as a dc sports 4-2-1 which is a little under 300 and other things here and there you will have over 8 grand in a car where you could get one just like it for 5500 roughly on craigslist. craigslist is chock full of tegs man. check there.

the guy knows that single owner gsr's are rare. the extra couple grand for peace of mind is worth it to some people. that being said...7k is still steep, as its double the blue book value. even if u get super duper comprehensive insurance, and it gets stolen (it happens), you'll only get like 3.5k-4k back. is that worth it to you?

Apathy Kills
A general FYI: some insurance companies do offer fixed-value policies, with a pre-set payout for total loss.
But those policies come at a premium. And the DC Integra is outrageously expensive to insure as-is.
If the cost of insurance and risk of theft don't faze you, by all means go for the well-maintained single-owner car.
I'd offer $6000 and see if he takes it.
Yes, the craigslist cars are dime a dozen, but most have been ridden hard and put away wet.
That kind of bargain is no bargain at all.
