Dealer told me CAI did the same as short ram...
I went looking at prices for an AEM CAI and the dealer told me it didn't matter if I spent the money on that or a normal air intake... ????

you may want to try reading up a little bit about intakes. It's generally agreed that an AEM CAI is overall..a great intake. It sucks up cold air from your wheel well, and provides pretty decent overall gains. The short-ram has the air filter right in the engine bay, and often times it sucks up hot air. Overall, it is less effective as far as hp/tq gains. The only advantage to a short-ram would be if you're worried about sucking water into your engine through the CAI- but in my opinion as long as you play it smart and don't drive through deep puddles you're not gonig to have any problems.
summary: buy the AEM CAI
P.S- I went from an AEM SRI to an AEM CAI
