Default HELP! 1990 teg hard click wont turn over

i have an automatic 1990 integra ls and have not been able to figure out this problem. starter has been tested and is good. battery is fully charged and has solid contacts. what happens is when i turn the key "on" everything is normal, dash light come on. then, when i go to turn it over, there is one initial hard click and then nothing and the dash lights dim. if i hold the key on the negative wire on either the starter or grond wire get really hot. once causing some meltage. lol. someone please tell me whats goin on. thanks

Put a wrench on the crankpully and see if you can turn the engine by hand. Sounds like something is locked up. Try pulling the starter and giving the key a quick turn and see if it all moves free also.

Sounds like your conatct points in the starter are bad or worn.

Tap/hit the starter with a hammer.

It used to happed to my Civic all the time.

ok will try turning it over... may sound dumb but how will it all move if there is no starter.....also tried tapping the starter multiple times which didnt work. the same thing happened when the original starter was on the car which also tested good but i replaced it anway. i heard it could be my starter relay but will the starter even click if the relay is bad?

I was referring to see if the starter itself was turning. Have you tried turning the engine by hand, to make sure something isn't locked up inside?

bypass the starter by looking for the s terminal. buy a remote starter and use it instead.
