Default too much compression...help!!!

Im in some need of big help! Ive got the B18c1, and i have a pretty hard miss/pingging sound. I did a compression check and my 4th cyl. was running about 260-280, while the other 3 were at normal. I thought that I had a broken valve spring which i took out this morning, yet there wasnt anything that I could tell. Im pretty lost right now. Any advice or troubleshooting tips please help!

You probably have a bunch of carbon buildup on number 4 piston.

Not really. A healthy B18C1 should see numbers around 270. what do the others read? Your problem may lie in them.

In the Haynes manual, the max compression is 184psi...Mine tested approx. 160psi for all four...

I called around a few places and was told it could be cyl 4's injector staying open and letting the excessive gas sit ontop of the cyl causing the extra pressure, and another said a mainfold vacuum problem or that my valves just werent opening properly. like I said, im pretty lost haha.

Where are you guys getting your information for the max compression? In my Haynes manual, under the B18C1 it says the standard compression is 270psi. Sure you guys are looking under the right heading?

Gotta pull all the plugs, and hold the throttle all the way open. Obviously disable the ecu also.
