Default Idle Surging... Out of ideas!

Hello,

This is for a 1994 Integra.

I did the following http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1564019&page=1 and also followed all the information on this page as well. Now the problem I have is a idle surge and I've checked my vac lines very throughly.

If I take my finger and plug the TOP port on the inside of the throttle body the car will drop down to around 900-1200rpm's and idle. I've cleaned the FITV and the ICS but no luck.

Anyone got any tips please?
I also screwed in the FITV plastic part in since it was loose, reset the ecu and I'm still in this same boat! HELP!

Thanks,
John

Clean your IACV and check Ignition timing.

Clean it again after I've already cleaned it and the FITV?
Hrm... Okay, I'll reclean it.
Timing hasn't really changed since I got the car tho, but this problem has arisen.
Do you think it just could be a bad Throttle body or either a bad sensor on the TB?

Thx,
John

Are you throwing any CEL's? If not, then chances are all your sensors are functioning properly.

How did you go about checking for Vac leaks?

If you have a can of carb cleaner, spray all around the TB and Intake manifold with the engine at idle. If you have a leak somewhere, white bubbles will surface at the leak.

And your correct about ignition timing, it usually doesn't change itself unless the bolts came loose around the distributor for some odd reason.

If none of the above helps, maybe someone else will have better advice. Good luck!

Thank you!!!
I'm trying as this new idle problem is just killing my nerves currently and I'd like to see it fixed but the jumping idle didn't start until I cleaned those two sensors then the lumpy idle started.

Prior to cleaning these two my problem was when I would crank the car it idled around 400-600rpm's and kept wanting to die.

I've never worked on a Honda with the FITV so i'm not sure what it even looks like.. But check the little gaskets inside the FITV and IACV, be sure they are still in place and the bolts are snug.

Is there a possibility that whatever you are plugging with your finger to make it idle right is supposed to have a real plug there? Make-shift plug it and see what it does.

Take u throttle body apart. Below the butterfly vavle (the one) there is a thing that coolant is routed thru. Inside there resides some kind of thermostic devise that seems to come loose. Tighten. I had an idle problem for ever and this ultimately fixed it. Take stuff apart

Removed the throttle cable and adjusted the small brass screw on the underside of where the throttle cable is located. Issue resolved.

Thank you to everyone whom helped.
Thanks,
John
