Quiet GSR Header for Gas Mileage
I have a 96 GSR with 263,000 miles that gets 31- 34 miles per gallon but I'd like to get better gas mileage. Can someone please tell me which header will produce better mileage while retaining the stock exhaust sound? More power would also be good.
Should I wrap the header with tape to reduce the heat in the engine compartment?
I have seen numbers on headers such as 4-1-1-1 and I don't have any idea what that means.
Most of my driving is done in the suburbs of Washington DC (A lot of stop and go and some highway).
My car 100% stock except for an aluminum intake, BMC air filter, and iridium plugs.
Thanks,
Kevin

I don't think a header will improve your gas mileage. Just keep up with your services and your gas mileage won't decrease.
4-1 - Four pipes into one collector which looks like one pipe.
4-2-1 - four pipes into a collector with two pipes into a one pipe collector.
