Default Whats up dudes, i have a quetion....

first of all nice forums ok so today i was in line to come back from mexico when white smoke started coming from underneth the hood. i open it and th left headlight housing was on fire. the wires runnig on top of the radiator melted and the wires touched and it shorted out. and some wires behind/ next to the air cleaner housing melted as well but did not catch on fire. and no fuses burned out! i find that wierd. thatss what there for right? to prevent something like that to happen. now i want to know what that wire is called, cause i think i need to replace it. it the one running along the top of the radiator and another one running next to the air cleaner housing. its for a 91 interga. thanx

I'd call it your headlight harness. Did you put different headlight bulbs in?

First off, welcome to the board.

Secondly, please do not pad your post count with fluff posts like "anyone?".

We have gaps in traffic, be patient.
If no one is around to answer your question, use our search engine.

Lastly, if you've got a short in your headlight wiring harness, I would make sure you've got it isolated before you invest in a new sub-harness. Talk with the chaps at your local dealer's parts counter about the short.

When it comes to finding the harness, you've got two options: Hit the junkyards and start searching or go to the dealer and prepare to open your wallet wide.

I'm pretty sure that aftermakert harnesses are sold as well. I know I got one with a set of sharkeyes I bought like 6 years ago. Of course, that was on my Civic so... :run:

I'd take Dave's advice and just hit your local junk yard for another harness. Wiring is fairly tough to diagnose and hopefully the parts that you can see are the only problem areas. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. :hs:

as far as the fuse check that the right fuse is in there, amps should be labled on the fuse box cover, I forget if that is under hood or under dash, and there may be one in both. The previous owner may have had the same problem and "fixed" it by bumping up the amperage of the fuse.
