    Prepin for Turbo

I plan on going turbo and need to know what to prepare for before getting it, I wanna get a Drag 3 for my 96 GSR What will I need to change to my fuel system, what is a good waste gate cuz I heard the one that comes with the Drag 3 isn't so good? Will I need to get a stand alone, and how will it help?

the drag 3 comes with the necessary fuel upgrades, unless of course, you wanna run huge amounts of boost, then i'd get better fuel components. as for the wastegate, the drag 3 should also have the option to upgrade to the tial 35mm one.

drag comes with an FMU setup. which is OK for 6-9 lbs. as for the deltagate... thumbs down. upgrade to the tial when you get the drag kit. deltagate has problems with boost spike (when it boosts up a lot more than you want it to).

Don't worry about "prepping" your car for a hypothetical turbo before you actually get the turbo. Just save up and get everything you need at once.

While the Tial is a really nice wastegate, the Deltagate isn't the piece of trash some people make it out to be. Add a TurboXS manual boost controller to the Deltagate and it works fine and dandy.

As for what fuel setup you need to run a Drag kit, you can either stick with what comes in the kit--an inline add on fuel pump and rising-rate FPR--or you can switch to a fixed-rate regulator, get some higher flow injectors and use some sort of computer (i.e. a V-AFC, Hondata, whatever) to lean out the mixture on idle to compensate for the larger injectors.

If you're going to run the deltacrap...i mean gate just make sure you run the vacuum off of charge pipe instead of the intake manifold. IMHO if you're going to spend so much for a turbo kit why not get a wastegate that is just a little more but is much more reliable like a tial or hks. Plus the tial looks sick hehe.

i think the best thing i did was put a 3mm headgasket in. im running 14lbs of boost daily, well usually its 12 cause of gas problems ha, i have the internal wastegate which sucks cause i need to get the external gate because of the need for a 3" downpipe. i would invest in a 3mm headgasket if i was you, i got mine from inline pro
