removing power steering
#7
well...
Well I actually just removed the belt off my powersteering,
on my 94' LS, I was suprised to notice my low end torque was
increased significantly, RPM's shot up faster also, the engine
ran smoother.
The reason I removed the belt is because my powersteering
pump blue up and shot fluid all over my car.
Steering is a bitch in parking lots right now, so I am considering
either replacing my powersteering pump, OR as a better alternative
if anyone knows where I can find an electric power steering pump
I would definitely prefer to install that.
As for removing the power steering pump, that was quite easy
there are two bolts you can loosen from your power steering
pump bracket, they are right next to the exaust manifold so
careful not to burn your hand on a hot exaust, once they are loose
there is a wingnut tensioner on the top you will see, this will adjust
the tension on the power steering belt, loosening it will lower the pump
so that you can easily slip the belt off. remove belt tighten everything
back down, and take her for a spin.

the one thing you want to do since you still have a pwr steering rack is you want to keep fluid in it. i foud out if there is still a little bit of fluid in the rack, the steering is sooooo much easier. it also helps prevent the system from lockin up. you can do this by looping the existing system, or i bought a kit off someone on honda tech that includes a small resevoir. its actually a big difference from just removin the belt.
