Burning a lot of oil very quickly. Please help!!!
Hello, ive got a '95 gs-r with 135000 miles on it. Im burning about a quart every 300 miles. I know its probably in part the piston rings but i didnt think that would burn that much oil that quickly. What else could it be?, please help.

theres no oil on the ground anywhere, and i just had my head gasket replaced along with a lot of other things, like my water pump, timing chain, plugs and wires, and some other things but nothing that would burn that much oil i would think

Have you done a compression and/or leakdown test? That will identify the issue if it is ring-related.
Did this happen immediately after the headgasket? Could be improper installation...any milky residue in the oil cap or coolant cap?

if it is the rings, how hard would it be to replace them myself, or should i just take it to a mechanic. I know the cost is huge for a mechanic so id rather do it myself

It is really hard to do if you have no mechanical experience considering it requires the removal of the head and pistons to get at the rings. If in doubt, let a mechanic check it out. It will run you almost 1k for all the work though.
