What brand caliper paint?
If there's anyone who painted their calipers please let me know what brands out there are decent. I'm looking into painting my calipers and would like to get quality paint. Thanks!

Just choose one designed to withstand high temp. other wise the pain will start peeling before you know it especially if you drive like me...

A humble request: If you feel like you must do this..please go with a muted color, like gunmetal or black. Painting stock calipers in a vibrant hue only draws attention to a stock part...and IMO looks cheap.
Also, be thorough in your masking and surface prep.
Do not let the piston or its seals become contaminated with paint. And lest there be any doubt, mask the rotor as well. In general, brake pad dust leaves lot of heavy metal and carbon deposits, which can make it very difficult for paint to bond.
In all honesty, I'd skip the idea altogether.

been there done that
just get a can of spraypaint and go to town. rotor and all.

You know, this really oughta be booted over into the DIY or Appearance/Cosmetic forum.

got boost?
go to any autoparts store and pick up some hightemp engine paint, and that will do the trick i have it done on my integra, and it looks good, and no problems with them not stayin the right color.

whip out a brush and slather it on. that way you wont have to worry about it peeling.
oh so stylish

Since mine were rusted, I got some of that "paint" that turns rust to a primer black. I sprayed it on about a year ago and haven't had any issues. It looks really good and natural. If you want a neutral black, I would suggest this.

Thanks guys! I'm thinking of going to the junkyard to pick up an extra set of calipers, that way I don't have to worry about downtime and messing up. I can then change the caliper once the paint dries.

Your Powder Coater
or you could just have them Powder Coated & not worry about fade or dulling paint that will peal off or chip easily, it would just stay nice & clean real easy & stay Shinny for YEARS....

I actually removed my caliper altogether, nailed it with brake parts cleaner, and hit it with a wire brush on a drill... removing ALL the nasty shit that was baked on there before I put on 5 coats of 1200*F high-temp aluminum-colored paint. It doesn't stand out like red, blue, or yellow, but it's not quite as dull as black, either. I think it looks good... I'll see if I can't get some pictures up for you.

how long ago did u do that?
paint doesn't harden as solid at powder coat does, there for it will not last like a quality powder coating job

You're right in that a powdercoated finish will be more durable.
But because of the high heat required to cure the powdercoating material, you have to completely dissassemble the caliper. The rubber piston seals would melt during the curing process if they were left in.
Again, I say skip it altogether. Too much time involved for too little a gain.

Lexus Tech y0!!
anyone have that pic of when that VW guy painted his rotors
IMO calipers should be neutral colors i.e. black, silver, or grey....end of story. and like theotherdave said, they look tacky and cheap.

Over the weekend. I had done the same procedure with my 2000 Celica GT-S, and it lasted for well over a year before I had to repaint them.

just go with like a subtle flat black or something and all will be sweet in the Land of Brakes
