Default Shifter Problem

here lately...something's been messing up in my shifter. I'll be in 2nd gear, at a low speed (roughly 20 mph or so) just driving along, let's say through a parking lot or pulling in my driveway. My shifter will rattle and try to pop out of gear. And when I push in the clutch and pull it down to 2nd again, it grinds a little. Is it my syncromesh? Or something way worse? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Throw out bearing might be going bad. That usually gets replaced w/a new clutch so you may be at that point too.

Throwout bearing has nothing to do with it popping out of gear once it's engaged.

The TOB could be involved in the second part of his problem (grinding going back into gear) but once the transmission is in gear, the TOB has no effect on it.
