Oversized or Standard pistons?

I am looking at getting pistons for my '98 GS-R. I have someone who has a set of standard ITR Pistons with rings for $200. Is it worth buying or should I go with oversized Type-R pistons. I am planning on getting a turbo soon. Or should I get different pistons than Type-R. Also they are Topline Type-R pistons, is this different than regular OEM Type-R pistons. Thanx for your help in advance.

The type r pistons will give you more compresion, so if your going for a Turbo setup then those would not be the ideal pistons to get unless you were going for NA or a supercharger setup. Get pistons that would lower your compresion.

I think you know this, but you didn't make it clear in your post. If you go with oversize pistons, you can't go with a stock bore.

yea, I knew that I just did not know if oversized and boring out was better for a turbo or just keeping it all the same size with just better pistons.

If you're planning on getting a turbo soon, worry about the turbo and its associated hardware before you start opening up the motor and replacing pistons. You can make plenty of reliable power on a completely stock engine as long as you have the right parts and it's tuned correctly.
