The Fit (my guess is they'd call it the Jazz in this country like they do in Australia) is already 200-300 lbs lighter than various models of Civic available at the moment; it should be about the same or a little better in terms of quickness.

Its a pity, I'd take a Jazz over a vanilla Civic any day of the week. Although I think you're right, it doesn't make a lot of economic sense to bring this car over to the States.
